Biography
Stewart Copeland is a renowned American musician and composer, best known as the drummer for the iconic rock band The Police. Born on July 16, 1952, in Alexandria, Virginia, Copeland began his musical journey at an early age, influenced by his family's musical background and varied cultural experiences due to his father's work with the CIA. After studying at the Berkeley School of Music, he honed his drumming skills in various local bands before moving to London in the mid-1970s, where he co-founded The Police alongside Sting and Andy Summers. Copeland's unique percussive style and innovative approach quickly set the band apart in a vibrant music scene that was on the cusp of a new wave era. Their rise was meteoric, with their first album 'Outlandos d'Amour' released in 1978, which featured hits like 'Roxanne' and 'Can’t Stand Losing You'.
