Biography

Mic Michaeli is the professional name of Swedish keyboardist and songwriter Gunnar Mathias Michaeli, born on November 11, 1962, in Upplands Väsby, Sweden. He developed his musical interests during the formative years of Sweden’s expanding rock scene and became associated with the hard rock group Europe in the mid-1980s. Michaeli joined Europe in 1984, shortly before the band entered the period that would establish it as one of the most internationally successful Swedish rock acts. His keyboard playing added melodic depth and atmospheric color to Europe’s guitar-driven sound, helping the band balance arena-rock scale with strong pop-rock songwriting.
