Biography

Jordan Rudess is widely regarded as one of today’s most virtuosic keyboardists, celebrated for his encyclopedic technique and fearless improvisation. Born on November 4, 1956, he grew up immersed in piano from an early age and quickly demonstrated an aptitude for musical storytelling beyond conventional repertoire. He studied classical piano and composition, while also exploring synthesizers, sequencers, and studio programming as tools for experimentation. Rudess absorbed a wide range of influences, from the Romantic clarity of Chopin to the exploratory energy of prog rock and jazz fusion, and he developed a voice that could blend meticulous technique with imaginative sound design.
