Biography
Greg Lake, born on November 10, 1947, in Poole, Dorset, England, was a pivotal figure in the progressive rock genre, renowned for his emotive voice and skilled musicianship. His early career began with the formation of the band, The Shame, while still in his teens. However, it was his collaboration with guitarist and composer Robert Fripp that brought him prominence as one of the founding members of King Crimson in 1969. Their debut album, 'In the Court of the Crimson King,' showcased Lake's virtuosity and songwriting skills, featuring influential tracks that would define the sound of progressive music, such as '21st Century Schizoid Man' and 'Epitaph.' Lake's contributions were instrumental in establishing the band's reputation, leading to a lasting legacy in rock history.
