Bob Bryar is an American drummer whose rise in the mid-2000s coincided with the ascent of the emo and alternative-rock scene. He began playing drums in school bands and local venues, developing a reputation for a tight, punchy groove that could anchor high-energy performances. In 2004 Bryar joined My Chemical Romance, stepping in after the departure of Matt Pelissier. His arrival coincided with the band’s transition from garage-fueled indie success to a broader, arena-ready sound, and he contributed to the group during a pivotal era that built their enduring cult following. With My Chemical Romance, Bryar helped drive The Black Parade (2006) into a global phenomenon. The concept album blended cinematic storytelling with explosive, anthemic rock, and its singles—most notably 'Welcome to the Black Parade'—became enduring anthems of a generation. The Black Parade tour took the band around the world, delivering stadium and festival performances that cemented their reputation for theatrical live shows.
