Roddy Bottum was born on July 1, 1963, in Los Angeles, California. He began his musical journey in the vibrant, eclectic music scene of the 1980s. With a passion for creativity and a desire to push boundaries, Roddy became a founding member of Faith. No Man. in 1983, a band that laid the groundwork for what would later evolve into the iconic Faith No More. The band's experimental blend of rock, metal, and funk set them apart from their contemporaries, and Bottum’s role as a keyboardist and songwriter would soon become integral to their unique sound. As he honed his craft, Bottum also dabbled in side projects, showcasing his diverse influences and musical versatility.
