Biography

Paul Bostaph is an American drummer known for his powerful and precise drumming style, recognized mainly within the thrash metal genre. Born on March 6, 1964, Bostaph began his musical journey in the elite underground scenes of the San Francisco Bay Area. His passion for music was apparent at an early age, and he honed his skills as a percussionist before securing his first professional role with the band Forbidden in 1987. This early association set the stage for a prolific career that would see him rising to prominence in several iconic metal bands, each time leaving an indelible mark on the thrash metal landscape. Throughout the 1990s, Bostaph's career took off as he joined Testament in 1992, contributing to the band's signature heavy sound which helped define the genre. Later that same year, he became a pivotal member of Slayer, where he would spend a significant part of his career. Serving as Slayer's drummer from 1992 to 1996 and then again from 1997 to 2001, Bostaph played on some of the band's most celebrated albums, including "Divine Intervention" and "God Hates Us All." He also returned to Testament between 2004 and 2005, and contributed to Exodus from 2005 to 2007 before rejoining Testament from 2007 to 2012. After a brief hiatus, Bostaph rejoined Slayer in 2013, where he continues to perform, bringing new energy to their relentless sound while honoring the legacy of one of metal's most revered bands.
