Biography

Lars-Göran Petrov, born on February 17, 1972, in a small town in Sweden, is best known as the iconic frontman of several influential death metal bands. His journey in the music scene began in the late 1980s when he first joined the band Morbid. Here, Petrov honed his craft and developed the growls that would soon define his vocal style. This early experience set the stage for his subsequent move to Nihilist, where he collaborated with other burgeoning musicians who would later become key figures in the Swedish death metal movement. Morbid and Nihilist laid the foundational experiences and friendships that would propel Petrov into the spotlight with Entombed and beyond. Petrov's professional journey from Morbid to Entombed (originally formed as Nihilist) marked a significant evolution in his music career. With Entombed's 1990 release 'Left Hand Path,' Petrov's raw, guttural vocals became instantly recognizable, solidifying the band's status as pioneers of the death metal genre. He continued to contribute to the band's success until 1991, took a break, and then rejoined Entombed from 1993 to 2014, leading the band through various sonic adventures and several acclaimed albums such as 'Wolverine Blues' and 'Morning Star.' In 2014, he formed Entombed A.D., continuing to explore new musical terrains while maintaining the band’s heavy influence. Simultaneously, during 2015-2021, Petrov was part of another formidable group, Firespawn, which allowed him to expand his artistry further, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the genre.
