Biography
John Coltrane was born on September 23, 1926, in Hamlet, North Carolina, and grew up in a deeply musical environment. His early career was marked by significant experiences that shaped his artistic trajectory. Coltrane's journey commenced in 1946 with the U.S. Navy Band, where he honed his skills during military service. Following this, he had a brief yet impactful stint with Dizzy Gillespie and His Orchestra in 1949, participating in the burgeoning bebop movement that was revolutionizing jazz. Throughout the early 1950s, Coltrane played in various ensembles, continually developing his unique sound and technical skills, which would later become foundational in modern jazz.
