Jimmy Page, born James Patrick Page on January 9, 1944 in London, is celebrated as one of rock music's most influential guitarists. He picked up the instrument as a teenager and absorbed blues and early rock from artists such as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and Elmore James, shaping a fluent, improvisational style. Page began his career as a versatile session guitarist in London studios during the early 1960s, lending his talent to a wide range of artists before stepping into the limelight.
