Brandon Flowers was born in Henderson, Nevada on June 21, 1981, and grew up in the Las Vegas music scene, where he began writing songs as a teenager and performing in local venues. He absorbed a wide range of influences from 1980s pop and alternative rock—Morrissey, The Smiths, U2, and David Bowie—and developed a knack for melodic hooks, dramatic builds, and sweeping choruses.
