Biography
Billy Cobham, a virtuoso drummer and composer, was born on May 16, 1944, in Panama and raised in New York City, where he started his musical journey. His early encounters with music were influenced by the diverse cultural tapestry of his hometown, immersing him in various musical styles from jazz to rhythm and blues. He quickly became known for his incredible technique and musicality, paving the way for an illustrious career that would influence generations of musicians. Cobham's early career saw him working with notable artists, including the legendary Miles Davis, solidifying his position in the jazz landscape before he co-founded the seminal band Mahavishnu Orchestra which set the stage for musical innovation in the 1970s.
