Kim Taeyeon, known mononymously as Taeyeon, was born on March 9, 1989, in Jeonju, South Korea. She first entered the world of music as a child, participating in various singing competitions. Her big break came when she was recruited by SM Entertainment in 2007. She debuted as the lead vocalist of the girl group Girls' Generation, which quickly rose to prominence, dominating the K-pop scene with their hit singles such as "Gee" and "Genie."
