Biography

Susumu Nishikawa, born in 1975, is a distinguished Japanese musician renowned for his contributions to the progressive rock scene. Beginning his career in the early 1990s, Nishikawa quickly gained attention for his innovative approach to guitar playing and songwriting. He started out playing in local bands in Osaka, where he refined his skills and developed a unique style characterized by complex time signatures and intricate melodies. His passion for music led him to experiment with various genres, including jazz fusion and experimental rock, ultimately laying the foundation for his future endeavors in larger bands. In 1995, he co-founded the influential band "Kagami" which swiftly rose to fame, releasing their landmark album "Eternal Reflection" in 1997. Nishikawa's contributions to the band were pivotal, co-writing many of their hits such as "Silent Echo" and "Dancing Shadows". The band's innovative sound garnered them a passionate fanbase and critical acclaim, leading to several tours across Asia and Europe. In 2005, after the disbandment of Kagami, he formed a new project called "Chroma" which focused more on experimental sounds. Their debut album, "Visions of Sound," showcased Nishikawa's evolution as an artist and further solidified his status in the music industry. Musically, Nishikawa is known for his unique blend of progressive rock elements with traditional Japanese music influences, creating a sound that is both intricate and accessible. Today, Susumu Nishikawa continues to perform and record music, recently being involved in solo projects that delve deeper into electronic and ambient music.
