Biography

Ronnie Lane was a seminal figure in the British rock and roll scene, best known for his work as a founding member of the Small Faces and Faces. Born in the East End of London on April 1, 1946, Lane began his musical journey as a teenager, learning to play the bass guitar and quickly making a name for himself in the local club circuit. He gained prominence in the mid-1960s when he co-founded the Small Faces, a band that would redefine the landscape of mod and psychedelic rock with hits like 'Itchycoo Park' and 'All or Nothing'. Lane's skill as a songwriter and performer, paired with his distinctive playing style, set the stage for a brilliant career ahead. With the dissolution of the Small Faces in 1969, Lane collaborated with fellow band member Rod Stewart and other musicians to form Faces. This new band retained the eclectic soul of the previous group while infusing it with a raw, boisterous energy. Faces achieved major commercial success during the early 1970s with albums like 'A Nod Is As Good As a Wink... to a Blind Horse' and hit singles such as 'Stay With Me' and 'Ooh La La'. Lane's songwriting talents continued to shine, as he penned a number of songs that became classic rock staples, further establishing his reputation in the music industry.
