Biography

Neil Halstead is a British singer-songwriter known for his work in the genres of folk and indie rock. Born in the late 1970s in reading, England, Halstead’s passion for music was evident from a young age. He initially formed the influential band Slowdive in 1989, a group that would define the shoegaze movement of the early '90s with their layered guitars and ethereal vocals. The band's self-titled debut EP and their groundbreaking albums, such as 'Souvlaki,' showcased Halstead's talent for blending dreamy melodies with poignant lyrics, making a significant impact in the indie music scene. After Slowdive disbanded in 1995, Halstead embarked on a successful solo career, releasing his first solo album, 'Sleeping on Roads,' in 2002, solidifying his reputation as a formidable solo artist.
