Mike Heron is a Scottish musician, primarily known as a founding member of the influential folk rock band The Incredible String Band. Born in 1942 in Brisbane, Scotland, Heron had an early start in music, finding his passion while living in Edinburgh. It was here that he began to blend traditional folk music with a more modern sound, eventually leading him to form The Incredible String Band in 1966 with Robin Williamson. The band's unique sound, characterized by eclectic instrumentation and mystical lyrics, set them apart during the 1960s counterculture movement, helping to establish a vibrant Scottish music scene.
