Melanie Chisholm, known professionally as Mel C, was born on January 12, 1974, in Whiston, England. She began her musical journey in the early 1990s, where she initially trained in musical theater and was involved with local bands. Her big break came in 1994 when she was selected as one of the five members of the iconic girl group, the Spice Girls. Mel C quickly emerged as the group's athletic and sporty persona, leading to her nickname 'Sporty Spice.' Her powerful vocals and distinctive style contributed to the band's phenomenon, which revolutionized pop music in the late 1990s, selling over 85 million records worldwide and producing hit songs like 'Wannabe' and 'Spice Up Your Life.'
