His early career began when he formed the band AFI (A Fire Inside) in 1991, initially playing a mix of hardcore punk and gothic rock. As a self-taught musician, Puget quickly developed his signature sound that blends melody with aggressive guitar work. He began to hone his craft during the band's formative years, leading to the release of their debut album, 'Answer That and Stay Fashionable' in 1995, paving the way for future success. In 1999, Puget and AFI released their breakthrough album, 'The Art of Drowning', which featured hit singles such as 'The Days of the Phoenix' and 'The Prayer Position'. The band's subsequent releases, including 'Sing the Sorrow' (2003) and 'Decemberunderground' (2006), solidified their status in the alternative rock scene, showcasing Puget's innovative guitar playing and songwriting abilities.
