Georgia Hubley, born on February 20, 1960, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, is an influential American musician and artist best known as the drummer and vocalist of the indie rock band Yo La Tengo. Growing up in a musically inclined household, she was exposed to a wide range of musical styles from an early age. Hubley's initial interest in music blossomed during her teenage years, particularly through her love for The Velvet Underground and punk rock. After attending various art schools, she connected with guitarist Ira Kaplan and bassist / vocalist James McNew, leading to the formation of Yo La Tengo in 1984. Throughout their career, Hubley and her bandmates have continuously pushed the boundaries of indie rock, melding noise pop, shoegaze, and experimental rock into their sound. Yo La Tengo gained recognition in the underground scene with their debut album "New Wave Hot Dogs" (1986) and has since released critically acclaimed albums such as "I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One" (1997) and "Fade" (2013).
