Biography

Euronymous, born Øystein Aarseth on February 22, 1968, in Norway, was a pivotal figure in the early black metal scene. He grew up in Oslo, where his passion for music was evident from a young age. Influenced by the burgeoning underground metal movement, he began his journey in heavy metal by playing guitar and participating in bands during his teenage years. He was inspired by bands like Venom and Slayer, which played a crucial role in shaping his interest in extreme music and intense performance styles. Euronymous co-founded Mayhem in 1984, which became one of the most notorious bands in the black metal genre, known not only for their music but also for their controversial image and the dark themes they explored in their work.
