David Howell Evans, commonly known as The Edge, was born on August 8, 1961, in Barking, Essex, England. He relocated with his family to Dublin, Ireland, during his childhood, where he found a deep passion for music. From an early age, he took up guitar, heavily influenced by the burgeoning punk rock scene and bands such as The Ramones. He formed a band with school friends, and in 1976, he co-founded U2, which would become one of the world's most renowned rock bands.
