Chris Bell was born on January 12, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, and he emerged as a pivotal figure in the power pop genre during the early 1970s. A founding member of the influential band Big Star, Bell developed a passion for music at an early age, playing guitar and honing his songwriting skills.
