Biography
Ben Gillies is an Australian musician best known as the drummer for the successful rock band Silverchair. Born into a creative family, Gillies began playing drums at a young age and was heavily influenced by a mix of rock and alternative music. His passion for percussion blossomed in his formative years, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already immersing himself in the local music scene of Newcastle, Australia. This early dedication laid the foundation for his future success as part of one of Australia's most celebrated bands. In 1992, at only 15 years of age, Gillies co-founded Silverchair with his schoolmates Daniel Johns and Chris Joannou. Their debut album, "Frogstomp," released in 1995, propelled the trio to international fame, highlighted by the massive hit single "Tomorrow." The album showcased a raw energy and a grunge-influenced sound that resonated deeply with audiences. Silverchair went on to release several acclaimed albums, including "Freak Show," "Neon Ballroom," and "Diorama," solidifying their status in rock history.
